Three dead in a four-vehicle collision in Kluang

KLUANG, 8 FEB: Three people died, including two Indonesians during an accident involving four vehicles at KM 42 Jalan Batu Pahat – Mersing here.

The Indonesians had been identified as Jelok Buso, 63 and Suparman, 36 while the other deceased had been identified as Aishah Afiqah Mashaizar, 26.

Kluang OCPD ACP Mohd Abduh Ismail said the accident which occurred at around 9.20pm yesterday involved three Perodua Myvi and a motorcycle.

“Initial investigations revealed that the two Indonesians died on the spot when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by one of the cars.

“The incident had caused the car to collide head-on with another Perodua Myvi causing Suparman, the pillion rider, thrown off from the motorcycle and landed on another Perodua Myvi at the scene,” he said in a statement.

ACP Mohd Abduh said the motorcycle rider and the pillion rider died on the spot while the other victim, one of the Perodua Myvi drivers, was pronounced dead at the emergency ward.

“All of the other victims have been admitted to the emergency ward,” he said adding the case was being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile Penggaram Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Rohaizat Hamdan said a total of 25 firemen were dispatched to the scene when the department received a distress call yesterday.

He said two fire engines, two EMRS vehicles and four motorcycle units were sent to the location to assist the operation.
